Instagram, Meta’s popular photo and video sharing platform, is reportedly planning to introduce a new way for users to access early features before they are officially released. Currently, users can only join the Android Beta program to test out new features that are still in the development phase. However, a recent leak suggests that Instagram may soon offer an “early access” option for users to experiment with in-development features through an alternative method. Developer Alessandro Paluzzi shared a screenshot on Threads indicating that the option to join early access might be located in the Settings and activity tab. This new “early access to features” could potentially give users the opportunity to try out experimental features before they are widely available on the platform.
AI Integration and Chat Themes
In addition to the early access feature, Instagram is also reportedly working on integrating artificial intelligence (AI) into its app. This new AI integration might allow users to generate themes for their chats using AI technology. Currently, Instagram allows users to customize chat themes with options like gradients and colors, as well as offering special themes. Paluzzi’s leaked screenshot revealed a new “Create with AI” option alongside chat themes such as Pickleball, Snack Party, and Minecraft. A similar feature is also being developed for WhatsApp, where users will be able to choose from preset themes like blue, green, grey, red, and purple. Selecting a theme may change the color and wallpaper in the chat’s background, enhancing the overall chat experience.
Cross-Posting Feature in the Works
Another exciting development from Instagram is the introduction of cross-posting to the platform. This feature would enable users to share content from Instagram to Threads, Meta’s microblogging platform that competes directly with X (formerly Twitter). The cross-posting functionality is expected to work similarly to the existing feature between Instagram and Facebook, making it easier for users to share their content across different platforms seamlessly.
