A recent report from Dealabs’ Billbil-kun has suggested that The Last of Us Part II will eventually make its way to PC, following in the footsteps of its predecessor. While development on the PC port was reportedly completed several months ago, fans may be disappointed to learn that the release date may not be until 2025.

According to the reliable leaker, work on the PC version of The Last of Us 2 began as early as 2021 and was finished by November of last year or possibly even earlier. It is unclear whether the PC release will be based on the remaster of the original PS4 exclusive, but it seems highly likely considering the trajectory of the first game.

The original The Last of Us made its way to PC in March of last year, six months after the remastered release on PS5. The improvements in gameplay, AI, visuals, and added game modes were well-received by fans. However, the gap between the release of The Last of Us Part II and its remastered version was much shorter, resulting in less dramatic improvements.

The remaster of The Last of Us Part II was released on PS5 earlier this year, leading many to question why the PC version has not been announced yet. It is speculated that the delay may be a strategic move to give the console version more time in the spotlight before introducing the game to a new platform.

Billbil-kun hinted that the PC release of The Last of Us Part II may not happen until next year, coinciding with the premiere of the second season of the live-action HBO adaptation. This second season is expected to cover the intense and brutal storyline of the sequel, adding to the anticipation of the PC release.

As of now, Sony has not made any official announcements regarding the PC release of The Last of Us Part II. With no mention of the game in their recent State of Play showcase, fans will have to wait patiently for any updates. Given the trend of PlayStation exclusives making their way to PC, it is highly likely that The Last of Us 2 will eventually follow suit, requiring players to sign in with a PlayStation account.

While fans eagerly await the opportunity to experience The Last of Us Part II on PC, it seems that the wait may be longer than initially anticipated. With no concrete release date in sight, fans will have to exercise patience and continue to speculate about the potential enhancements and adaptations that may accompany the PC version of this highly acclaimed game.
