DJI, best known for its drones, is making a bold move into the world of electric bikes with its new Avinox drive system. This innovative system is set to revolutionize the e-bike market with its powerful features and impressive performance. The Avinox drive system is set to be featured in DJI’s first e-bike, the carbon fiber Amflow PL electric mountain bike, which is expected to be released before the end of the year.
One of the key highlights of the Amflow PL e-bike is its impressive 120Nm of max torque and 1000W of on-demand boost power. This makes it capable of overcoming even the steepest inclines with ease. The mid-drive motor is remarkably quiet and rated for 250W of nominal output with an 850W peak. Additionally, the removable 800Wh battery can be fast-charged from zero to 75 percent in just 1.5 hours using the included charger.
Despite its power and battery capacity, the Amflow PL is surprisingly lightweight at just 19.2kg, thanks to its carbon fiber frame and Avinox drive system. The bike features a two-inch color OLED touchscreen display integrated into the frame, along with an Avinox app for wireless access to riding data. It also has an alarm system for security and a USB charging port for convenience.
Christina Zhang, senior director of corporate strategy at DJI, explains that the company’s expertise in battery and motor technology from drones and camera stabilization systems has led to the development of the Avinox drive system. This expansion into the electric bike market is a natural progression for DJI, as they have mastered the essential technologies required for such systems.
The Amflow PL e-bike is expected to compete directly with premium electric sport bikes like Specialized’s Turbo series. DJI estimates the pricing to be between €7,000 and €12,000 ($7,500 and $12,850), making it a high-end option for electric bike enthusiasts. With its advanced features and innovative design, the Amflow PL is set to make a strong impression in the competitive e-bike market.
