Instagram has recently announced a new feature called ‘profile song’ that aims to enhance the customization of user profiles. This feature allows users to add a specific song to their profile that best reflects their mood or preferences. The platform has a wide range of licensed songs that users can choose from to add to their profiles.

To introduce this new feature, Instagram has collaborated with US-based singer and actress Sabrina Carpenter. The profile song feature will be displayed below the user’s bio, allowing others to see and listen to the chosen song. Users can tap on the music icon to play the song, which will have a 30-second playback duration. The list of tracks available for this feature includes a teaser of Sabrina Carpenter’s song “Taste” from her upcoming album.

The profile song feature is available on all consumer and creator accounts on Instagram. To set it up, users simply need to go to their Profile tab, select ‘Edit profile,’ and then tap ‘Add music to your profile.’ From there, they can search for their favorite song or explore the ‘For You’ section to find a suitable track. Once the song is chosen, users can select the clip duration for their profile, with an option to choose 30 seconds of the song.

As of now, the profile song feature is available on Instagram for Android users, with plans to roll it out for iOS users in the near future. This new feature builds upon Instagram’s previous media-related updates, such as the multi-audio tracks feature introduced in July. With this feature, users can add up to 20 tracks to a single Instagram Reel, align the audio with text, and edit the Reel with stickers, clips, and other creative elements. The app also allows for a fade effect and overlapping audio clips, with the mix being saved and attributed to the creator.

Overall, Instagram’s profile song feature adds a new dimension to user profiles, allowing for more personalization and creative expression on the platform. This latest update further solidifies Instagram’s position as a leading social media platform for sharing visual and audio content.
