The launch of Wuthering Waves, the new open-world RPG gacha game by Kuro Games, has been less than smooth. Players have been experiencing issues with logging in, with some unable to log in at all and others facing constant log-in demands upon relaunching the game on PC. In addition to login problems, there have been performance issues such as lags, freezes, low frame rates, and crashes. Our own writer, James, even struggled to get the game to boot on a Steam Deck. These problems have forced the studio to take swift action to rectify the situation.

Kuro Games has responded to the issues faced by players by releasing a series of hotfixes to address the login problems. They have also promised patches to fix performance troubles and complaints about the game’s localized text. Looking ahead, the studio has outlined plans for more improvements aimed at enhancing the overall game experience rather than just technical issues. One of the changes includes making more in-game scenes skippable during the game’s story, along with redesigning the button in the UI for easier access. While full cutscenes may not be skippable due to technical constraints, the optimized system should streamline the main quest experience outside of cinematics.

In addition to addressing current issues, Kuro Games has shared their plans for future enhancements to Wuthering Waves. They aim to make all types of story content skippable in upcoming updates, giving players more control over their gameplay experience. The studio also intends to optimize the combat system by adding more visual feedback for attacks, ensuring objects in the environment don’t obstruct battle views, and providing clearer feedback on combat actions. These changes will be accompanied by other optimizations, fixes, and new gameplay elements, including improved maps, NPC artwork, and Echo transformations.

To compensate players for the inconvenience caused by the launch issues, Kuro Games has announced that players at Union Level 2 or higher by July 3rd will receive ten Radiant Tide items. Additionally, a Voucher of Reciprocal Tides will be available for the next year as an apology for the unsatisfactory Beginner’s Choice Convene experience. This voucher allows players to obtain a 5-star Standard Resonator of their choice for free. While the specifics of these items may be unclear to those who have not yet played Wuthering Waves, the gesture of providing players with free rewards is a positive step towards rebuilding player trust and loyalty.

Despite encountering initial challenges during its launch, Wuthering Waves and Kuro Games seem dedicated to improving the game and enhancing the player experience. By addressing technical issues, implementing gameplay enhancements, and compensating players for the inconvenience, the studio is working towards creating a more enjoyable and stable gaming environment for all players. With continued updates and improvements on the horizon, the future looks promising for Wuthering Waves and its growing community.
