Kia has recently introduced the finalized version of its EV3 small electric SUV with a groundbreaking feature: AI integration. This innovative vehicle, originally showcased as a concept last year, is set to debut in South Korea this July, followed by a launch in Europe later in the year. While the US release has been confirmed, no specific timeline has been announced yet.

One of the standout features of the EV3 is its voice-activated AI assistant, a first for Kia’s production electric vehicles. This AI system, initially featured in the Kia K4, has been enhanced to aid users in planning trips, discovering entertainment options, and more. Developed based on ChatGPT technology, the AI assistant will be rolled out in Korea before expanding to the European market.

The EV3 boasts an impressive estimated driving range of 600km (373 miles) according to the European WLTP system, although the US EPA rating is typically lower. The long-range model with an 81.4kWh battery offers swift acceleration from zero to 100km in 7.5 seconds. Utilizing Hyundai’s E-GMP platform, the EV3 features dual 12.3-inch screens for the instrument cluster and infotainment, a five-inch panel for HVAC controls, and a 12-inch heads-up display. Additionally, LG’s webOS-based auto platform provides premium streaming apps, with customizable dashboard themes, including NBA-inspired designs.

Drawing inspiration from the boxy and spacious Kia EV9, the EV3 is designed to accommodate five passengers comfortably. The interior space allows for personal item storage and includes a sliding table for laptops. With no front gas engine, the EV3 offers a small 25-liter frunk, in line with Kia’s design choices for their other models.

Overall, Kia’s venture into the electric SUV market with the EV3 showcases a blend of cutting-edge AI technology, impressive performance features, and a functional yet stylish design. The integration of AI assistance and a range of high-tech amenities set the EV3 apart in the electric vehicle landscape, promising an exciting new era for Kia and its customers.
