Meta, the parent company of Threads, is ramping up its efforts to increase user engagement on the platform by offering financial incentives to high-profile creators. These creators are being offered up to $5,000 to post on Threads and could receive a payout if their posts garner more than 10,000 views. While some users are already achieving this level of engagement organically, the incentives are only available to creators selected by Meta through an invite-only bonus program.

The offer of financial incentives is limited to a select group of creators chosen by Meta. These individuals will receive a notification and invitation through their Professional Dashboard on the Instagram app. This exclusivity suggests that Meta is targeting highly popular creators who have not yet joined Threads, aiming to attract a new wave of influential users to the platform.

This strategy is part of Meta’s broader promotional efforts to boost Threads’ user base. The company has previously formed partnerships with celebrities and sports teams to generate interest in the app. While an initial stage of the bonus program was launched earlier, Meta has since increased payout amounts and view thresholds to further incentivize creators to participate. The ultimate goal is to accelerate Threads’ growth trajectory, as the platform has gained 20 million users since February, reaching a total of 150 million monthly active users.

Despite this growth, Threads still lags behind other social media platforms like X, which boasts 550 million monthly active users. Meta’s focus on creating a positive user experience by steering clear of politics and real-time trends may attract users from platforms like Twitter. If influential stars migrate to Threads and bring their followers along, it could stimulate further growth and establish Threads as a viable social media alternative.

The introduction of financial incentives for high-profile creators on Threads represents a strategic move by Meta to enhance app engagement and broaden its user base. By attracting prominent personalities and offering exclusive rewards, Threads may be able to capitalize on the appeal of real-time social media and position itself as a competitive player in the social networking landscape.
