WhatsApp is reportedly working on a new feature that will provide users with the ability to block messages from unknown senders. This feature, spotted by a feature tracker, aims to enhance the user experience by preventing messages from unfamiliar accounts from reaching the user’s device while ensuring the safety of the user’s account.
The new Block unknown account messages toggle was discovered in WhatsApp beta for Android 2.24.17.24, which is currently available to beta testers on Android. This feature, located under the Privacy > Advanced menu in the settings app, will block messages from unknown accounts when they surpass a certain threshold. In comparison, Signal, another messaging platform, defaults to restricting messages from unknown accounts.
